Warbler & Wren Bag and Card Design

The Context

Warbler and Wren are Irish coffee roasters who are passionate about truly exceptional coffee. 100% premium Arabica beans are hand roasted in small batches in an Italian Roaster using traditional slow roasting methods. They are dedicated to the highest buying practices and roasting techniques. They pride themselves in sourcing their beans from fully traceable, reputable, ethical women-only plantations around the equatorial zone known as the “Bean Belt”.

The Brief

To create an identity and packaging design that reflects the craft, care and provenance behind the great coffee in an accessible, warm, quirky and memorable design.

The Solution

Exquisitely crafted, our designs are artisanal and minimal. The identity is based on the birds that inspired the brand name, the yellow warbler and rufous-breasted wren. Both birds are the natural worlds protectors of the coffee bean by keeping devastating coffee pests from the insect world at bay. We made these two charming birds the central icons of the brand in rustic, woodcut-style illustrations created in-house by our talented team. Typography is beautifully chosen with a hint of tradition. The plumage of the birds themselves has inspired the striking colour palette of mustard and grey.

The Result

Launched recently, the brand has been warmly received by retailers. Highly visible units at Dublin Airport and Boston Donuts in Trinity Street are drawing consumers to this charming new addition to the coffee-scape.
